History of Creation

FaZe Clan is one of the most renowned and influential esports organizations in the world, founded in 2010 as a collective of Call of Duty players. The story of FaZe Clan began as a project focusing on trickshots — impressive in-game maneuvers and shots captured on video. Three players — FaZe Housecat (Timid), FaZe Resistance, and FaZe ClipZ — started this project as a YouTube channel where they posted their gameplay videos.

The channel quickly gained popularity, and thanks to their success on social media, FaZe Clan started to grow. Over time, the organization moved beyond trickshot videos and began assembling teams to compete professionally in various games. FaZe evolved from a casual group into a professional organization, gathering top-level players in titles such as Call of Duty, CS, Fortnite, Valorant, and many more.

First Roster

Initially, FaZe Clan focused on entertainment and content creation rather than competitive esports. However, in 2012, FaZe Clan made its debut in competitive Call of Duty tournaments. The key players who laid the foundation for the organization’s professional success were:

  • FaZe Temperrr (Thomas Oliveira) — one of the founders and a key figure in FaZe Clan, who continued to play a major role in its development.
  • FaZe Banks (Ricky Banks) — another early member who had a significant impact on FaZe Clan’s rise in social media popularity.
  • FaZe Apex (Yousef Abdelfattah) — a crucial player and content creator who helped grow the team.

Over time, FaZe Clan began recruiting top players and forming full-fledged esports rosters to participate in international tournaments.

Best Moments and Achievements

FaZe Clan has achieved numerous milestones across various esports titles, and several of them have become iconic.

CS

One of FaZe Clan’s most successful and well-known rosters came in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS). In 2017, FaZe assembled a “superstar” lineup with world-class players like NiKo, rain, GuardiaN, olofmeister, and karrigan. The team dominated many tournaments, winning major events such as:

  • ESL One New York 2017 — one of FaZe’s first big victories on the global stage.
  • ELeague Premier 2017 — another significant triumph that solidified FaZe as one of the world’s strongest teams.
  • IEM Sydney 2018 — a prestigious win that marked one of the most important moments for their CS roster.

FaZe consistently reached the finals of major tournaments, further cementing their reputation as a top-tier team.

Call of Duty

FaZe Clan began its journey in Call of Duty, and this game remains a cornerstone for the organization. The team has won numerous tournaments and consistently placed high. One of the most memorable moments came in 2021, when FaZe Clan won the Call of Duty League Championship, becoming world champions.

Fortnite and Other Games

FaZe Clan has also made a significant impact in other games, including Fortnite, Valorant, and Rocket League. In 2018, one of the most notable moments occurred when FaZe player Tfue became one of the top Fortnite players globally, bringing massive attention to the organization.

In Valorant, FaZe Clan quickly built a strong team, regularly competing in top-tier tournaments.

Unique Style and Influence

FaZe Clan stands out from other esports organizations with its unique blend of content creation and high-level competitive play. Much of FaZe’s popularity comes from its active presence on YouTube, Twitch, and other social media platforms, where they produce content that spans not only gaming but also lifestyle, fashion, and music. This has allowed FaZe to grow into more than just an esports organization — they have become a cultural phenomenon.

FaZe Clan has also collaborated with famous musicians, athletes, and brands like Nike and McDonald’s, further strengthening their presence in popular culture.

FaZe Clan is not just an esports team, but a massive cultural platform that is reshaping the esports landscape. From its humble beginnings as a group of Call of Duty enthusiasts to winning titles in the most prestigious tournaments worldwide, FaZe Clan continues to evolve and attract millions of fans. Their success is built not only on competitive achievements but also on their ability to stay ahead of trends and create a unique community where esports becomes part of a broader cultural movement.
