G2 Esports: Champions of LEC Summer 2024
The G2 Esports League of Legends team has become the champion of LEC Summer 2024. In the split’s final showdown, the team led by Rasmus “Caps” Winther defeated Fnatic with a score of 3-0. Caps was named the MVP of the series for his outstanding performance.
This victory marks the third regional league title for G2 this year, as they also secured first place in the winter and spring splits. For winning the LEC Summer 2024, the team earned €40,000, while their opponents from Fnatic received €25,000.
G2 Esports became the second team in the world to secure a slot for the 2024 World Championship. Previously, Gen.G, the winner of the 2024 Mid-Season Invitational, earned a spot at the world championship. LEC participants will compete for two more slots for the main event of the year in the LEC Finals, which will be held in August.
The 2024 World Championship will take place from September 25 to November 2 in Europe. Matches will be held in arenas in Berlin, Paris, and London. The tournament will feature 20 teams from eight regional leagues.
