OG is one of the most renowned and successful esports organizations in the world, especially in Dota 2. The story of OG is one of unwavering self-belief, overcoming challenges, and becoming legends in esports. It continues to inspire thousands of fans globally.

The History of OG

OG was founded in 2015 thanks to the decision of two players — Johan “N0tail” Sundstein and Tal “Fly” Aizik — who left their previous teams to create something of their own. The duo had already played together in various teams but believed they could achieve greater success by forming their own squad. Thus, the team initially known as (monkey) Business was born, which later rebranded to OG.

Initially, OG was considered an underdog team, with little expectation of success. However, they quickly defied the critics by winning the Frankfurt Major 2015, one of the biggest tournaments of the time. This was their first major triumph, putting OG on the global esports map.

OG’s First Roster

The original OG roster consisted of five players:

  1. Johan “N0tail” Sundstein — the team captain, one of the most well-known and respected players worldwide. His leadership was key to OG’s success.
  2. Tal “Fly” Aizik — one of the team’s founders and a strong support for OG in its early years.
  3. Miracle- (Amer Al-Barkawi) — one of the most talented and promising players at the time. His performance in the mid lane amazed both fans and opponents.
  4. Cr1t- (Andreas Franck Nielsen) — the support player, known for his precise and intelligent plays.
  5. MoonMeander (David Tan) — the offlaner whose aggressive playstyle helped the team dominate the map.

This roster quickly became a formidable force on the global Dota 2 scene, and their victory at the Frankfurt Major only solidified their standing.

OG’s Best Moments

OG has proven time and again that they are true champions. However, the pinnacle of their career came during their legendary run at The International — the main Dota 2 tournament, often compared to the Olympics of esports.

  • The International 2018: OG entered the tournament as underdogs. No one believed in their chances after a tough season. But thanks to incredible play, team chemistry, and the contribution of newcomer Topson (Topias Taavitsainen), OG managed to defeat all the favorites and win the championship, beating PSG.LGD in the final. This moment became a historic milestone in esports.
  • The International 2019: OG made history again by becoming the first team to win TI twice in a row. This feat had never been achieved at such a high level. Their dominance in the tournament and innovative strategies set a new standard for all teams.

In addition to these two triumphs, OG has also won numerous other major tournaments, including several Majors, further cementing their status as legends.

OG is a team that challenged the world and proved that belief in oneself and teamwork can lead to incredible success. The story of OG is one of victory, perseverance, and love for the game. Despite roster changes and various challenges, OG remains one of the most influential and successful teams in the esports world, inspiring new generations of players.
