History of Formation

Top Esports (TES) is one of the leading esports teams from China, widely recognized for their achievements in League of Legends. The team was founded in December 2017 under the name Topsports Gaming, which was linked to the Chinese sportswear brand Topsports. In 2019, the club rebranded to Top Esports, a move aimed at creating a more recognizable and powerful brand on the international stage.

TES initially competed in the LPL (the Chinese professional League of Legends league), facing fierce competition from other strong Chinese teams. However, they quickly gained momentum, attracting talented players and coaches. By 2020, the team became a real threat to all competitors in the region and secured its place among the elite on the global stage.

First Roster

In their first year, the team’s roster was not as well-known as today’s, but it laid the foundation for future success. Here is the first official TES roster:

The team performed reasonably well, showing decent results, but not standing out compared to other leaders. However, this was just the beginning: by 2019, TES started making serious transfers that took them to the next level.

Best Moments

Top Esports truly rose to prominence in 2020, when the famous mid laner Knight joined the team. From this point on, TES began consistently delivering strong results both in the LPL and on the international stage.

A key moment for the team was their victory at the LPL Summer Split 2020, where TES defeated JD Gaming in a tense final. This title secured them a spot at the League of Legends World Championship 2020, where TES were considered one of the main favorites. Although the team didn’t clinch the world championship, their performance was memorable: they reached the semifinals, losing to Korea’s DAMWON Gaming, who went on to become the champions.

In 2022, TES once again proved they were a top-tier Chinese team. They won the LPL Spring 2022 and later became the finalists of the Summer Split. Each season, TES demonstrate an exceptionally high level of play, cementing their status as one of the most stable teams on the global stage.

Key Players

• Knight (mid laner) — the brains of the team and one of the most talented players in the world. His mechanical skills and mastery of champions like Zoe have made him a legend in the League of Legends community.
• JackeyLove (AD carry) — one of the most decorated players in China. He joined TES in 2020 and immediately helped the team reach new heights. JackeyLove had previously won the World Championship with Invictus Gaming (IG), bringing experience and stability to the team.
• Karsa (jungler) — a veteran of the scene, known for his aggressive jungle play and tactical thinking. He played a crucial role in TES’s success over several seasons.

Top Esports have come a long way from being a fledgling team to becoming a global powerhouse in esports. They consistently perform at the top of the Chinese LPL and are regular contenders in international tournaments. With stars like Knight and JackeyLove, TES remains one of the most dangerous teams in the League of Legends scene, and fans are eagerly anticipating more victories from them in the future.
